The Westin Roco Ki Resort - Dominican Republic
The master plan for Roco Ki is inspired by the spectacular terrain's breathtaking settings. Set on Punta Cana, this five star golf and
beach resort is designed to preserve and protect the natural Caribbean landscape including the site's 3.2 miles of coastline, peaceful
lagoons and the surrounding natural forests. Working with Eco Plan, Inc., Sweeney & Associates, Inc. provided irrigation design services
for this stunning resort property.
With sustainability in mind, the project includes a recycled water plant to produce clean irrigation water for the golf course and the resort
landscape from the wastewater generated from the resort. Additionally, irrigation for the cottages utilizes the grey water from onsite
showers and sinks. Much of the irrigation system has been designed as a temporary measure to simply establish the native vegetation
used throughout the project. More permanent irrigation systems have included low angle spray heads to fight the windy conditions and
drip irrigation. The irrigation system utilizes a central control system, onsite weather station, master control valves and flow sensors to
eliminate leaks in the irrigation system in pipes or from broken sprinkler heads.
