Cross Creek Ranch - Fulshear, Texas
This 3,200 acre development maintains it country feel with over 400 acres of dedicated open space, several hundred acres of lakes, and
150 acres of restored riparian ecosystem along Flewellen Creek. The community land plan for Cross Creek was designed to enhance the
lifestyles of the residents, and to be eco-friendly in the process. The landscape plan for the project, provided by SWA Group - Houston,
utilized native trees, plants and tall grasses throughout the development. The design team created an engineered wetland to contribute to
the natural beauty as well as environmentally support to the community.
Sweeney & Associates, Inc. has provided irrigation design services for this project since the master planning phase of design. The water
for the project is provided from the extensive lake system designed for the project. A series of pump stations and a large piping network
was designed to provide irrigation water throughout the development. Irrigation design includes subsurface drip systems, overhead spray
systems, master control valves, flow sensors and a Hunter IMMS central control system with an evapotranspiration sensor. An extensive
system of large quick couplers and removable, semi-manual sprinkler heads was designed for the reestablishment of the wetlands of
Flewellen Creek. These systems allow for efficient temporary irrigation of areas that will become established and no longer require
irrigation in a few years.
