Projects

The vast portfolio of our completed projects demonstrates the wealth of experience contained within Sweeney & Associates. The opportunity to be involved in the design of unique and complex projects is something we look forward to.  Our body of work includes projects involving complex central control systems, alternative water sources, over structure systems, LEED certification and projects with demanding water conservation requirements.

Sweeney & Associates provided all the irrigation design services for this tremendous Los Angeles landmark.  Working with landscape architects Emmet L. Wemple, Hanna Olin, Fong Hart Schneider, Denis Kurutz and Spurlock Poirier, the firm created a unified irrigation system for this 110 acre hilltop project.  Innovative design features include extensive use of subsurface drip tubing in planters and for tree irrigation, a Motorola central control system  and fertilizer injectors specifically for tree plantings.

The San Diego Padres new downtown ballpark was an instant hit. Landscape architects Andrew Spurlock and Martin Poirier have designed an exciting mix of both garden spaces and public park areas. The irrigation design features high efficiency rotor systems and “hidden” irrigation equipment to eliminate valve boxes in planter spaces or in the playing surface.

This 43 acre park site in Huntington Beach, California offered many challenges to the irrigation designer. Designed by Nuvis Landscape Architecture, this site features four baseball fields and four softball fields with overlying soccer fields. The irrigation design includes a layout that isolates sprinkler heads in areas of consistent play on the soccer fields.  Approximately one third of the park is built over an existing landfill site, requiring a careful approach to irrigation techniques, product selection and layout.
